Cellulose Insulation

ABOUT
Cellulose Insulation

Cellulose insulation is a fiber insulation material made up of recycled paper content. In comparison to other insulation materials, cellulose insulation has a much higher concentration of recycled content, containing as much as 85% of recycled newspaper. The paper is fiberized so that it can be densely packed which provides for better air sealing. During processing, the material is also coated non-hazardous chemicals such as the mineral borate to act as a flame retardant, and resistance to pests and mold.

Cellulose Insulation Options

 Cellulose Insulation Advantages

Cellulose insulation is an exceptional insulation product that settles into tight spaces lending itself to be slightly better in terms of air sealing.

Environmentally Friendly

Cellulose is made of recycled materials and helps minimize our carbon footprint.

Less Expensive

Cellulose is generally less expensive than other insulation products.

Greater R-value Per Inch

Cellulose provides better thermal resistance per inch of applied thickness.

Cellulose Insulation FAQs

What is Cellulose insulation?

Cellulose insulation is mostly recycled paper content.

Is Cellulose insulation flammable?

It’s required by law that all cellulose insulation be treated for flame resistance. The treated cellulose actually slows the spread of fire.

Does Cellulose Insulation settle?

It does. However, trained installers will insulate to a “installed thickness” which will account for settling

How is cellulose insulation different from fiberglass?

Cellulose insulation does a much better job getting into smaller cracks and voids than fiberglass and is more dense giving it better air sealing properties.

Is Cellulose insulation environmentally friendly?

Absolutely! Cellulose insulation, given that it is composed of typically 82% post-consumer waste paper - it’s perhaps the MOST environmentally friendly insulation.
